Exciting News for Hillside Church!

After a careful search process, we are beyond excited to announce that God has led us to hire someone to provide leadership to our Children's, Youth and Worship Ministries. It is our pleasure to introduce you to Adam Hodgins, his wife, Heather and their children, Grayson and Aislinn. We have been witness to God's hand within this search process in powerful ways and note such a great "fit" between Adam, our present staff, and our needs as a church family. We are excited to see how Adam will use his God-given gifts within the life of Hillside. Adam will begin his position as Director of Family and Worship Ministries on Sunday, October 28, 2018. We plan to welcome the Hodgins family to our church family in service on October 28th, so plan to be a part of this service. Adam can be reached at family@hillsidechurchmountalbert.com.

Who is Adam Hodgins?
Originally from Nipigon, Ontario, Adam studied Youth and Worship Ministry at Heritage Bible College in Cambridge. Together with his wife, Heather, they actively volunteered in Youth Ministry at GrandView Baptist Church in Kitchener for six years, while he managed an oil change shop. Adam was called to make youth and worship ministry his full time vocation in 2009 through a fortuitous meeting with Rev. Neville Cowan. Since then he has served at Talbot Creek Community Church, Brechin as Youth and Worship Pastor and First Baptist Church, Barrie as Youth Pastor, and most recently at Victory Baptist Church in the areas of Youth, Children and Worship.  Adam and Heather, have two children, Grayson (10) and Aislinn (7), and as a family they love and support each other while serving the Lord. The Hodgins family is very excited to see how God is leading them in their next step in ministry here at Hillside Church.

Sports Day Weekend Service Opportunities

Sports Day is a key time of community interaction for the town of Mount Albert and is a strategic time for us as a church to seek to minister in meaningful ways. Please find below two ways to be involved during this weekend celebration.

Carnival Workers Dinner
Mark it in your calendars! Our yearly Carnival Workers
Dinner for the midway workers from the Sports Day festivities will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 @ 6:00pm. Please speak to Pastor Scott, Bill Havercroft or Sarah Neve for more information. A sign up form will be available shortly.

Community Dinner
Each year on the Saturday evening of the Sports Day weekend, a community meal is hosted at the Community Centre. We have been asked to host this meal on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. What a great opportunity for community involvement! We are looking for those to help plan for the meal, some to host the event (serving food, greeting visitors, and clean up), and other willing to provide a cold meat tray, salads, or a dozen dinner rolls. For more information on this event, please speak with Pastor Scott. A sign up form will be available at the Welcome Centre.

Service Cancellation

Posted by scott on April 14, 2018

attention.jpgPlease note that due to the wonderful icy winter weather and the forecast throughout the night and into tomorrow morning, we've decided to cancel our service tomorrow morning (April 15, 2018) rather than cause any risk to your safety trying to get to church.

In lieu of attending the service, we ask that you take a few minutes tomorrow morning to pray for three church families of your choice. This way we can continue to act as the body of Christ, even though we will not be gathered in the same room together.

Please pass this information along to any other attendees of Hillside Church whom you may speak with. We look forward to seeing you again on Sunday, April 22nd here at Hillside!

Thanks, stay safe and warm, and perhaps you can host a neighbourhood "shovelling party" tomorrow. Be blessed.

Please join us in signing up for 15 minute periods of prayer over this 24 hour period. Feel free to sign up for as many 15 minute segments as you wish, as our aim is that each slot will be filled, enabling us to complete a full 24 hours with continuous prayer. Sign up as individuals, couples or families and because prayer can occur anywhere, we hope that this allows for involvement by all.
